Supporting the implementation of mandated tasks through digital technologies

Around 160,000 men and women are implementing a range of mandated tasks as part of multilateral peace operations worldwide. There have been tangible uses of digital technologies in support of elections, human rights, or police development, which have, for example, facilitated investigations, structured case file management, expedited and safeguarded voter registration, or strengthened the administration of national police services through databases for personnel and asset management. And yet there is untapped potential and additional applications are imaginable, in the areas of political processes, border management, patrolling and protection, or the reform of security institutions to name but a few. To realise this potential requires enhanced tech awareness as well as capacities. (Image: Thomas Mandrup)
